The Las Vegas Review-Journal profiled Steve Neiger in its C-Suite Insider series. Patrick Blennerhassett's piece traced Neiger's path from the Naked City neighborhood in the 1990s, where his family at times could not afford a phone or a car, to his role as a principal at the commercial real estate firm CAST. The paper said he has nearly 20 years in the business, has carved out a niche in Southern Nevada retail with projects in Chinatown, downtown Las Vegas and along the Strip, and has been involved in hundreds of millions of dollars in leasing and sales over the past five years. A photo caption also identified him as president of CREDA, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.
In the Q&A that followed, Neiger named land and power as the biggest supply-side problems, saying the region was having trouble getting land out of federal hands both inside and outside the SNPLMA boundary. He pointed to rising costs across construction, utilities, taxes and insurance, and said they fall hardest on smaller local businesses. He asked municipalities to cut entitlement and permitting time, and said he expected higher occupancy, rents and values over the next five years because the market is not building enough to keep up with demand.
